| SPEECH FROM H.E. Dr. MADAN KUMAR BHATTARAI DURING 7th NESAJ SYMPOSIUM | 2012-02-22 | |
SPEECH FROM H.E. Dr. MADAN KUMAR BHATTARAI DURING 7th NESAJ SYMPOSIUM President of the Nepalese Students Association in Japan Mr. Bimal Adhikari, President of the NRN Japan Chapter Mr. Om Gurung, Executive and other members of the NESAJ, Representatives of different organizations, Distinguished Friends and Well-wishers of Nepal, Ladies and Gentlemen:
I am very happy to come to the premises of the prestigious University of Tokyo and thank the host for kindly inviting me to attend this programme and speak before you. This is a wonderful opportunity for me to interact with so many scholars who are the veritable backbone of our country and symbol and representative of our future. I am all the more happy to have the opportunity to be a participant in the 7th NESAJ Knowledge Transfer Symposium 2012 on such a very useful and quite pertinent topic “Modern Technologies and Policies for Nation Building” barely within ten weeks of my arrival as ambassador to this great country. I congratulate the NESAJ for making such fruitful endeavours in arranging symposium on such a multi-disciplinary area. The NESAJ, as I have found after my arrival to this great country, has been a very useful forum in terms of networking of scholars, professionals and experts of Nepal who have undergone training and higher study in this country and bringing about synergetic co-operation between Nepal and Japan in academic and research areas. The organization has been a lead agency in Japan in terms of imparting a unique identity among the university students of Nepal in Japan for promoting both mutual co-operation and collaboration, and cultural and academic exchanges between Nepal and Japan. I request the audience to give a big hand to the NESAJ for all its success in the past and wish you all success in your noble endeavours. When I went through your website this morning, I was more fascinated to see your logo designed by Dr. Netra Prakash Bhandari of Ehime University. While his rather pessimistic prognosis he is going to make during the Symposium, of impending earthquake in a highly seismic zone like Kathmandu Valley, my place of birth, with pitfalls of potential disasters is at most frightening, his creative logo depicts a harmonious blend of earth, water and book as a living symbol representing life, creation and researc.... |
